Prepping for Africa's Largest Travel Trade Show

Marie Frei Cape Town South Africa

In a few weeks, I'll be returning to one of my favorite places on Earth: South Africa. It's just over a year since my last visit and I can't wait to see how much has changed. While I love experiencing new restaurants and new lodges, it's the familiar faces and friends I'm most looking forward to seeing.

First, stop: Durban. I'm running straight from the plane to meet up with some of the most talented South African travel bloggers at the INDABA Travel Bloggers' Conference. Over the course of the following days, I'll be covering INDABA, Africa's largest travel trade show. I'm most excited to hang out in the TechZone, an area where companies like Visualise and South African Tourism will demo how they use the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift to promote South Africa's unique attractions in an innovative way.

If this is your first INDABA, download the INDABA app & familiarize yourself with the event map. There are 30% more exhibitors confirmed this year, so pack comfortable shoes - you'll do a lot of running around! You still have time to login to the INDABA matchmaking tool to book meetings with the people you can't leave without seeing. Good luck!

After INDABA, I'll be touring across several provinces to see some of the highlights of Durban, Cape Town and beyond. I can't wait to share my experiences as I connect with local artisans in their shops, sample the best food and wine from the hottest new restaurants, and test my telephoto lens whilst on safari.

Will I see you at INDABA? I hope so! Be sure to read TNooz for my updates covering the TechZone. I'll have WiFi access for the majority of my trip, so don't forget to follow my Twitter and Instagram for updates.

Full disclosure: This trip is sponsored by South African Airways and South African Tourism. As always, all thoughts and words on One Carry-On are my own.
