Glamping in the Catskills

This autumn, my boyfriend and I drove approximately two hours north of New York City in search of the perfect Catskills weekend getaway. Our first stop was a luxury campsite just outside the town of Woodstock, NY.

On the agenda: walking, hiking and general exploring. I made sure to pack enough layers to be comfortable with the warm days and cool nights.

The fall foliage first became visible in Rockland County and the colors grew in intensity as we drove up Interstate 87.

A single lantern was hung to distinguish the gravel driveway leading to the camp. Our hosts, David and Rebecca of TerraVelo Glamping, were waiting on the porch to greet us.

TerraVelo is a tour operator combining the best of camping, luxury accommodation, and adventure. Their Woodstock camp featured 5 sleeping tents plus 2 large communal dining and lounging tents. Though the walking trails through the forest are fun to explore, the campsite is also conveniently located 5 minutes away from downtown Woodstock. You can either book a tent on Airbnb or book a full weekend tour with TerraVelo.

The communal lounge tent is the perfect place to cuddle up with a good book during a passing rain shower.

With a queen size memory foam mattress and fine Italian linens, the tents feel just as luxurious as they look.

"For my favorite burger on Earth (really) you'll want to go to Shindig." - David of TerraVelo Glamping

When we returned to camp after dinner, fire torches and tiny tea lights in the grass lined the pathway to our tent.

We joined the group around the campfire and roasted s'mores. David brought out his sax and played a few songs.

The next morning, we awoke just after sunrise to the sounds of woodpeckers and other birds.

We dined on fresh fruit, muesli and bagels inside the breakfast tent.

After breakfast, we returned to the fire with our mugs of coffee and plotted the rest of our Catskills adventure.
